There has been a significant increase in the number of parents buying properties for their children to live in when they go to university, but why? Property experts say that the reason many adults are making this decision is simply to secure their children’s’ financial future. Due to the current economic climate and the property market dropping, now is the time to consider purchasing a property for your children whilst they’re at university.

Do you have children?
Are they nearing the time when the will be leaving the ‘nest’ and setting up home in one of the many university cities around the UK? You only have to turn the TV on to be hit with news stories outlining how expensive higher education is in the modern world. Students are racking up thousands of pounds worth of debt in order to further themselves and obtain a university degree. The first step you can make to protect the financial future of your child is to buy a property for them whilst they’re at university.

There are a number of developments that have been established in university cities aimed at attracting people such as students and their parents to purchase investment properties. Typically, these people are purchasing three and four-bedroom houses which are ideal for students seeking shared accommodation and have competitive starting prices. Think about it; you could have an investment property that is self-sufficient and have the peace of mind that your children are not living in “typical” student accommodation.

Buying a Home
As previously mentioned, there are a number of property development companies that are establishing sites containing new houses that are excellently located just minutes from university campuses and town centres. Such new homes are ideal for students studying at university because of their location and have received lots of interest from students and their parents who are both looking for an investment opportunity and accommodation for their children whilst they’re in higher education. With the decrease in property prices during the recession, there is no better time than to explore the possibility of buying a home for your children to live comfortably in.
