Great curb appeal will help you sell your house faster and get better offers
When you put your house on the market, it is important to make it appealing on the inside and out. Buyers see the outside of your house first. Often, they drive by before coming in or even calling you. This means that you always have to keep your yard in order and you need to create a curb appeal before listing your house.
There is almost no limit to how far your curb appeal quest may go, so make a plan. If you already have great landscape in place, clean it up. First, clean the yard; get rid of weeds, dead plants and other unsightly things. Secondly, prune your shrubs and certain trees that may require pruning. Hire a tree service company to cut down dead trees. Plant fresh plants (if it is planting season). If not, you can always add mulch or rock to your flower beds to make them look more finished.
If you have yard decorations, it is usually best to put most of them away while you are trying to sell your house. You buyers may have different taste from you and you may simply scare them away if you happen to have an abundance of statues, flags and other decorations all over the yard.
Next, you need to check your driveway. If it has cracks in it – it is in your best interest to fix them if you can afford to do so. Bad looking driveway is a big red flag when it comes to buyers. Remember, your money is best spent on things that people can see.
You also need to check your front steps and railing. Make sure that the steps are sturdy and clean and that the railing is tightened. If your mailbox is old, crooked or doesn’t shut – be sure to fix it before listing your house.
