Maintaining a properly balanced check book and keeping the credit card balanced within the financial situation often seems challenging. In reality, balancing credit cards and keeping the financial data organized to prevent late fees or going over the available balance on the card is not difficult, it just requires following a few simple guidelines.

Know the Card Limit: The credit card paperwork showing terms and conditions will also state the card limit. If the limit on a card is $2,000 it is vital to avoid overspending on the card and keeping the amount to a reasonable level below that spending limit. Keep the Balance Well Below the Limit: Credit cards add interest charges to the account each month. This means that if the card is close to the limit, it might end up going over after the interest charges are added to the account. It is important to keep the balance a few hundred dollars below the limit to avoid accidentally overspending and ending up with extra charges. Knowing and respecting the limit on a credit card is the first vital step in balancing the card.

Keep All Credit Card Receipts: When shopping on a credit card, it is easy to throw away those small receipts for one and two dollar items. Unfortunately, balancing the card means keeping all of the receipts until after it is verified that the card has those charges. Verify the Information: Each month, confirm the spending on the card with the receipts. If there is an added charge beyond any receipts, find out what was charged and determine if it was actually spent on the account. This is the actual act of balancing the card with the purchases made using it. By taking time to balance every charge with every purchase, it is not only easier to keep track of spending habits, it is also easy to determine when credit card fraud has occurred or when purchases are accidentally put onto the credit card rather than paid through other means.

Pay on the Card: After verifying all of the purchases, it is time to ensure the card is paid on time each month. Paying on time avoids late fees and added charges to the account, so it is important to take time to pay at least the minimum balance each month. Balancing a credit card is similar to balancing a check book. It is a matter of paying attention to the amount of money in the account, verifying purchases made to the account and then paying down the minimum amount each month. By keeping track of this information, it is easier to plan a budget and get finances in order.

Every bank seems to have its own credit card these days, and they’ll send out letters to all of their customers trying to get them to sign up for their particular card. Now, credit cards can be a very handy tool when used properly, and they are undoubtedly convenient… but the fact remains that 90% of people who own credit cards find themselves spending more money than they intended, at least some of the time. And we all know what that leads to – debt problems!

Banks are incredibly good at convincing people that they need credit cards
Banks and credit card companies are very good at appealing to our fears – and desires. That’s how they get many customers in in the first place. Many young people today can recall receiving their first “letter of invitation” when they turned 18 – a letter of invitation to sign up for a credit card. The “invitation” made it sound like the recipient was a VIP person who deserved to finally own a credit card of their own. In this way, the bak appeals to the young person’s desire for “grown-up-ness” and a little bit of the glamour and prestige that they might feel they’d been missing out on as an (underage) child.

Making us feel “special”…
And it’s not just young people. Even mature adults still like to feel like they are in some way set apart from the rest – and credit card companies will often send out invitations to sign up for their cards with the tantalising promise of “rewards” and “free flights, holidays and wine”. Everyone in the Western world knows that air travel, holidays and wines signify a life of leisure and wealth – things that we all desire. But credit cards aren’t always the best way to get leisure and wealth… in fact, badly managed, they can be a fast-track to bankruptcy.

How do they do it?
Appealing to people’s fears and desires, banks can get us to spend way more than we had intended. Let’s have a look at the four main ways that banks get us to spend more using credit cards – some are obvious, but others are more insidious.

Credit cards capitalise on peoples’ impulsiveness. It’s easy to sign up for a credit card – they make it as easy as possible for you to do so. It’s in the banks’ best interests to get as many people on their books as possible – preferably in perpetual debt! This allows them to a) hold onto their customers and b) collect high amounts of interest off each person’s debt. Also, banks make a lot of money out of impulsive credit card holders. The impulsive buyer is shopping-enabled, to the point where he or she can easily rack up thousands without blinking an eye, or even realising it. The credit card’s bill gets totalled up automatically, and at the end of the month, that person will have spent way more than they’d intended – or even expected. So by capturing as many impulsive people as possible, banks stand to make a lot of money out of their credit card holders.

Let’s go myth-busting on four commonly cited arguments which the banks make – when they’re trying to get us to use our credit cards.

#1. Convenience
One of the most common attitudes today is, “I want it now!” Fast is the new mantra of marketing and convenience is touted as one of the biggest advantages of having a credit card. Online transactions, for instance, ban be made in mere seconds. Transactions in the supermarket, at the takeaway or at a department store are super-fast and it’s basically swipe and go. On the phone, you can make a payment by simply typing the numbers of your credit card in for the clever machine on the other end that’s listening – and it’s all done! Also, you can have several credit cards linked to the same credit account, so that spouses and/or kids can have access to the same account, saving you fees and hassle. In fact, convenience is probably the single most genuinely “useful” upside to having a credit card…

#2. Good for emergencies
Banks like to play on our fears of danger and emergencies. “Save your money with us – don’t stuff it under your mattress and risk it being stolen!” Well, fair enough – but when it comes to credit, how have they managed to make us believe that this is any safer than a debit card? If you get into sudden debt, a credit card up your sleeve can keep your finances ticking until you come into some cash again – but there are also abounding payday loan companies out there that will help you get through in the same way. You have to ask yourself, if it worth having this credit card and increasing my risk of overspending, just for the perceived safety of having it “just in case”? Admittedly, there are a few legitimate reasons why having a credit card could get you out of a tight spot in a pinch – when you’re overseas in a foreign country, for instance – a flight booked on a credit card might just get you away in the nick of time if a war or natural disaster was looming. But how many of us are in this situation? Many people like the idea of having a credit card in case they get stuck somewhere without transport – they can buy fuel, or take a taxi. But keep in mind that keeping a modest emergency cash fund in your car (maybe stashed under the passenger seat?) and carrying a few taxi vouchers in your wallet are time-honoured solutions to a problem which credit card companies claim to solely solve…

#3. Safe because you can reverse transactions
It’s often said that credit cards are safer than paying by debit card or cash because a fraud transaction can be reversed on a credit card. Yes, that’s true. But for petty amounts, many people find that the transaction reversal project is too big a headache. Unless you’re in the habit of making very large payments, or potentially risky payments to little-known overseas vendors, for instance, then is this benefit really useful to you, personally? Bear in mind that most people simply use their credit card for their groceries, fuel and for nights out.

#4. Accruing points to get rewards
Ah, yes! Frequent flyer points! Don’t you get misty-eyed when thinking about how nice it would be to fly over to see your old Aunt Flossie again? You haven’t seen her since childhood and you know she’d love to meet your kids. Or maybe it’s not flying that gets you in – it’s the promise of “rewards to choose from”. Many credit cards will allow you to choose a reward from various gadgets and gifts in a glossy catalogue – provided that you spend so much per year. But add up the annual fees, plus the interest which you are likely to pay, and see if you couldn’t have just funded that trip to see Aunt Flossie with your own modest savings, or bought yourself a 12-pack of fancy wines in December from a cleanskin wine retailer at a very reasonable price? There is one other thing – if nobody had put the idea in your head, would you have bothered to buy that kind of thing at all? Maybe not – but the banks and credit card companies have now made you desire it – on their terms!

So as you can see, although credit cards have their uses, it may be worth questioning their purported benefits and asking yourself whether you really need your credit card at all… and if you do decide to get one (or keep the one you’ve already got), you can now use it mindfully, sidestepping the trappings, aware of how those banks are trying to get you to spend more!

Credit card is a typical bank product that allows the cardholder to purchase any items instead of using cash. It is one kind of payment accepted by nearly all department stores and business establishments. With credit card, you can also buy anything in the Internet from physical goods to electronic products.

If you are short of money or you need it but you don’t want to borrow from your friends or family members, you can also make a cash advance from your credit card with particular interest depending on the amount of cash you get off.

In my case, I prefer now to use credit card than cash when buying in supermarkets or buying items online. When I was in the Philippines, I don’t have a credit card and its my decision not to apply for one because of my notion about it. I thought having credit card is harmful for finances and using only cash is the great way of paying everything you like to purchase.

So is owning a credit card truly bad for your financial planning? I don’t think so. My belief was changed now since I worked overseas. I saw that there are many advantages and privileges of owning at least one credit card.

Credit card and debt always go together. It is the explanation some people think credit card is not for them. Once you use your credit card for purchasing anything, you are making a debt. However, as long as you can pay your credit card bill on time, you will not be burdened about your debt because you are in management of your credit card.

Here in South Korea where I am employed for nearly 4 years, I learned the importance of having a credit card. Whether or not credit card is good or harmful , rests on the person having that card. Simply like money and other financial products, they are not wrong as it is, it becomes only bad when the individual use it in bad purposes and ways.

It is the reason cardholders should be disciplined and self-controlled when using credit cards. I believe if you are an impulse buyer, you should avoid having a credit card until you change your practice and switch your thinking about purchasing things. Also be cautious in using credit cards because it may lead to too great quantity of debt.

There are some great perks of having a credit card that I mentioned above. Afar from that, with credit card you don’t ought to bring plenty of cash in your purse since you can use your credit card for payment. The nice thing also about it is you will pay the bill later for one month.

In addition, if you became a victim of scams and you use your credit card for payment, you may get your money back once the credit card company verified you have been victimized. The only suggestion I want to leave is to pay the bill in complete so you won’t acquire high interest in the second billing.

I think credit card is beneficial when you use it for your own advantages and comforts. In fact, it is actually intended to be helpful to the cardholders. The usage of credit card should be associated with discipline and self-control.

Credit card debt can be a real worry, but need not result to bankruptcy. Really, it’s honestly manageable to pay off as long as you adhere to a scheme and gradually reduce your debt.

First off, stop using your credit cards. There’s no need to build more debt for yourself and additional you will have to pay off later.

After that, if you have many cards requiring to be paid off, look at their interest rates and place them from topmost to lowest. Next, that’s the arrangement you’re going to pay them off. Some people think it’s a nice idea to begin with the least to pay a card off completely, but truly that only makes you spend more money since you’ll continue to pay greater interest rates. Labor on lessening down the cards with greater rates first so those lower ones won’t afflict you as seriously while they’re anticipating to be paid.

Next, begin creating payments every other week instead of once a month, dispensing half of your monthly total with each payment. Getting into the habit of paying punctually helps trim down your debt and stabilizes out your cash flow as nearly all people are paid bi-weekly. Credit card companies demand interest everyday, so by trimming off just a small bit of your debt earlier, you save yourself money on interest accumulated.

When determining how much to pay, don’t go with the minimal. In all likelihood, it’ll take you forever to pay off what you incur and you’ll just end up payable more due to interest. Act out a budget that takes out a practical chunk of your debt each calendar month but that works within your earnings and expense needs, and that also sets a reasonable target date for paying off all your debt.

Lastly, don’t be fearful to dip in to your bank account (in a bank, not an IRA or 401K) to help pay off credit card debt. Do keep some an emergency finance or whatever you’re saving up for, but don’t be deceived that the interest it is earning in a savings account is worth safekeeping it there for. Credit card debt interest is really high, and everything you can do to accrue smaller interest will go a long ways into eliminating debt and reducing your payments.

Credit card has numerous benefits for those persons who are using it for their own advantage. So it is my suggestion for you to get at least one credit card.

Simply remember to use it with self-control and care. If you cannot manage your self on rush buying, don’t apply for a credit card. It may destroy your life because of too great quantity of debt.

I believe credit card application is one of the simplest application on earth because even if you don’t fill up any application forms, there is a credit card that will be sent by post in your letter box.

It is my experience in the past and also some of my family members told me their encounter of having a credit card mailed to them in spite of they did not apply for it.

Here are few of the tips to consider before applying a credit card.

1. When you are considering to apply for a credit card, you should first research and study the best credit cards available in your country. Those credit cards must have low interest when you default your payment and as much as possible it must have no application fee and annual charge for service.

2. Ensure you can pay your credit card’s account of charges online or you can schedule an automated payment of your bill from your bank account. It would be better to apply a credit card in your bank since typically all banks have credit card products so it would be easier to pay your statement.

3. For faster processing and approval of your credit card application, simply apply to your bank. Fill-up all necessary application forms and submit necessary credentials.

4. Decide for a highest credit card limit. It should be the maximum amount you can pay in a month without extra interest.

5. Apply for an global credit card just in case you will be traveling overseas or you will make up an online business. If you apply for a local credit card, you cannot use it to purchase items online. Some of the well-known international credit card providers are Visa, Master Card, American Express, JBC and more.

Credit card application is not a hard task to carry. It is really easy to apply for one, however, the hardest part is in regulating on using it. It is designed to help the cardholder for his financial control and planning. When credit card is applied correctly, it will impart numerous financial perks to the cardholder.

Just about everything these days requires credit. From obtaining a credit card to getting a cell phone provider, a good credit history is needed. Even purchasing a house or car with a bank loan requires good credit. Perhaps you are young and just starting out financially. Or, maybe you have just never utilized credit. Either way, you might be wondering how to start credit with good habits to keep your record on track.

First
The first step in how to start credit is to apply for a small store retail card or loan with a co-signer. Generally, you will want this person to have good credit as the lender is using their previous record as collateral to extend financial help to you. If you default on the loan or fail to pay your bill, this affects the record of your co-signer.

Second
If a co-signer is not available, a secured card may be a way for you to start. In this case, a lending company requires a lump sum deposit payment up front in exchange for a credit limit of the same amount. For example, a $500 payment for a secured card will most likely give you a $500 card limit. If you fail to pay your card bill, the lender will take the fee out of the secured amount and negatively report this to the bureaus. If you continually pay your bill on time for a few years, several lenders will even reimburse the secured amount.

The easiest way to start credit off on a good foot is to pay on time every month. By creating a good habit in this now, you will build up positive history in your report. This allows for a higher score and further opportunities for loans in the future. Now that you are empowered with new information, go out there and build credit.

Whether you are just starting out or simply trying to repair your record, you might be wondering how to get credit. Here are a few simple ways to get credit for the first time or during the rebuilding stage .

?	Get a Co-signer with Good Credit: There’s an old saying about the lottery: you can’t win if you don’t play. This is quite true in terms of credit, as well. You cannot get loan if you never apply for a credit card or loan. If you currently have zero credit or it is bad, you may need a co-signer with a good record to apply with you. This co-signer adds their name to your card or loan, meaning if you fail to pay your bills they are as responsible as you are.

?	Apply for a Secured Credit Card: If a co-signer is not available to help you get a loan, you may be required to put down a security deposit before you are given a card. Usually, this amount matches the same amount of credit you are requesting. If you fail to make your payments, the credit card company will take what is owed out of your deposit and report it negatively to the reporting agencies.

?	Start good Financial Habits: The better financial habits you keep now, the more likely you are to be offered and approved to get a loan later. This means paying all your bills on time, paying off as much of your debts each month as possible, and not reaching your maximums by routinely utilizing less than 30% of your limit.

Now that you are empowered with additional information, go out there and take action to start building your financial life.

Did you know that not all credit card lenders and loan companies report your account statuses to the three major credit bureaus? In fact, this is quite typical for many retail store, gas station, and restaurant cards.

The first step to report credit is to find out whether or not a company is reporting this information is to obtain a copy of your report. By federal law, each person is entitled to one report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies per year. Take note of any accounts that you have that are not appearing on the report.

The next step to report credit is to compose a simple letter with your account information, the name of the lender, and your account history. If you are able to obtain a certified copy of your account history from you lender, attach that to the letter as well. Form letters can often be found online, downloaded, and filled out to report credit. In addition, you will need to create a separate letter for each of credit items you are reporting. Also, send a separate letter to each reporting bureau. By law, these agencies are required to research your addition and respond. A few of the agencies require an upfront payment to add accounts to your report depending on the type, but that will usually be detailed on their website.

To access each of the three major reporting agencies, visit their websites at Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union. Now that you are empowered with new information, go out there and take action.
