Nick Brown, President and CEOSalesCU equips credit unions to move beyond passive order-taking by helping employees become value creators who understand member needs, ask relevant questions, make appropriate recommendations and guide members toward the next step. Its credit union-specific program combines practical sales training with leadership development, coaching and accountability to reinforce that mindset across the organization.
“Our program works because it’s built by credit union employees for credit union employees,” says Nick Brown, president and CEO. “We understand what needs to happen in order to engage the member and drive sales.”
Moving Beyond Order-Taking
SalesCU begins its training with Sales Fundamentals before progressing to Advanced Sales Skills, where employees build practical skills in questioning, product knowledge, recommendations and follow-through. The training draws from real member interactions rather than hypothetical scenarios, providing employees with skills and processes they can apply in daily conversations. The training also changes employees’ understanding of what selling means.
The Transformational Leadership Workshop equips leaders to coach and develop employees, while senior leadership coaching helps executives establish expectations, build buy-in and focus on the right KPIs.

Our program works because it’s built by credit union employees for credit union employees. We understand what needs to happen in order to engage the member and drive sales.
Ongoing resources reinforce those behaviors beyond an initial workshop. Year-long online courses, live refresher sessions and continued coaching give employees and leaders opportunities to revisit skills as frontline and leadership teams change and new employees join.
Sustaining Sales Capability
SalesCU first assesses whether a credit union is ready for sales training. Once the foundation is ready, it shapes the program around each credit union’s needs and branch configuration, with delivery available on-site, virtually or through certified internal trainers.
During the engagement, SalesCU learns the credit union’s mission, values, products and services and incorporates them into role-play and skill practice while maintaining a framework designed specifically for the credit union environment. The underlying framework remains consistent, but the application reflects how each credit union communicates with their employees and members.
In one instance, a 4 billion dollar credit union began working with SalesCU in 2024 after their senior vice president of operations identified a need for a structured approach to member engagement and sales. The institution had a strong leadership team but lacked a consistent program that could align those efforts across the organization.
Internal trainers were certified to lead the program, leadership received training and teams established KPIs, scorecards and coaching practices. GAP, extended warranty and debt protection sales grew by 30 percent within three months, while loan recapture increased by 50 percent. Employee-initiated referrals doubled in 2024 and again in 2025. The credit union continues to report process and sales improvement more than two years into the program.
SalesCU programs operate on 12-month cycles and are renewed annually, allowing the company to assess evolving needs and support continued development. Clients work with it for an average of four years before generally sustaining the approach independently.
As human interactions become fewer but more valuable, SalesCU’s focus is to help credit unions make those conversations count. Its recognition as the Top Credit Union Sales Training Services 2026 reflects its continued focus on helping credit unions build the employee behaviors, leadership practices and accountability needed to turn member conversations into greater value.
