Financial Services Review: Specials Magazine

Debt capital markets depend on efficient execution. Issuing and managing financial instruments involve multiple steps, from documentation and verification to settlement and administration. Any disconnect between these processes can slow transactions and increase operational complexity. As capital markets grow more sophisticated, financial institutions need reliable technology infrastructure to manage transactions, maintain control and execute at scale. QI Tech addresses this need through an integrated financial technology platform. The company provides infrastructure for debt issuance, securities registration, settlement, custody, escrow management and fund administration. Its solutions serve banks, asset managers, securitization companies and other financial institutions seeking to streamline capital market operations and manage complex transactions. An Integrated Technology Platform Founded in 2018, QI Tech set out to give financial institutions the technology infrastructure to launch and manage financial products without building every component themselves. It became the first company in Brazil to receive Central Bank authorization to operate as a Sociedade de Crédito Direto (SCD), a regulated direct credit institution that can extend loans using its own capital through an electronic platform.

Founded in 2014, Traslosheros y Asociados Estrategia Patrimonial has built its practice around combining detailed financial analysis with the personal attention of a boutique firm. Its work begins by understanding each client’s circumstances, responsibilities and aspirations before recommending a course of action. That approach now supports more than 2,500 active clients whose needs may span individuals, families, businesses and financial interests across countries. “Our mission is to help clients protect what they have built and prepare for the responsibilities and opportunities ahead,” says Alfonso Traslosheros, Founder and Director. The firm’s capabilities include life insurance, retirement planning, education funding, succession planning and business protection and continuity through key person life insurance. It also develops savings plans for children and grandchildren and can incorporate selected investment options. Relationships with partners in the United States provide access to additional life insurance instruments and investment choices for clients whose financial interests extend beyond one country.

Traditional accounting firms often pursue larger corporate accounts, leaving individuals and startups to navigate financial and regulatory responsibilities with limited professional support. GEOTAX chose to focus on this overlooked market and help entrepreneurs address tax, accounting and financial responsibilities that can impede business continuity. For Gaston Bernasconi, the opportunity became clear through years spent working with numbers and teaching others how to understand them. An accountant and university teacher with experience overseeing training at KPMG, he saw that many entrepreneurs could benefit from a more handson approach to the financial side of running a business. GEOTAX was built around that idea, helping business owners understand what sits behind their accounting and tax obligations rather than simply handling the paperwork for them. “If they succeed, we succeed. Our approach is to teach them, help them with accounting, tax and finance, and walk the path together,” says Bernasconi, managing partner.

Companies turn to BURÓ when a decision can no longer be viewed through one discipline. It may involve an investment, tax matter or cross-border operation where consequences extend beyond capital to reputation and business continuity, as well as relationships with banks, regulators or investors. Led by Founder and CEO Vanessa Gómez Sánchez, BURÓ starts with the decision the client needs to make rather than a catalog of services. The Paraguay-based multidisciplinary advisory firm connects tax, financial, corporate, regulatory and foreign trade perspectives, assessing not only whether a structure is possible but whether it is prudent, sustainable and defensible over time. “A good advisor is not the person who answers fastest. It is the person who knows what must be understood before answering,” says Alejandro Alvarenga, Founder and COO.
